CGS Skillbridge FAQ
Both terms, “SkillBridge” and “Career Skills Program”, are used interchangeably under the Department of Defense (DoD) SKB Program. SKB provides eligible Military members an opportunity to develop skills through civilian-on-the-job training, employment skills training, apprenticeships, and internships preparing them to transition from military to civilian employment.
Service members must be able to complete the program within their last 180 days of military service. The exact time frame depends on the length of their approved training programs. The service member must obtain approval from their chain of command, which varies by each branch of the service. Commanders may approve or disapprove participation by their service member based upon unit mission requirements.
We look for those willing to explore new challenges and embrace this opportunity of on-the-job training as an effective way to translate skills from one industry to another. The goal of the SkillBridge Program is for transitioning members of the military to secure fulfilling career opportunities at Chugach Government Solutions (CGS).
SkillBridge opportunities are based on the current needs of Chugach Government Solutions and its subsidiaries and our various geographic availability, as well as the potential to provide regular, full-time employment upon program completion. While we cannot guarantee placement into the program. If you are selected to interview for the SkillBridge Program, you will be contacted by the appropriate Talent Acquisition Specialist regarding next steps.
You can find instructions on the DoD SkillBridge website.

“Chugach has allowed me to expand my knowledge and take off on a new yet rewarding career. The company puts their employees and values first, which makes it enjoyable to be a part of.”
Jade Rose, Security Administrator
“I recently retired after almost 25 years of Active Duty and National Guard military service. What attracted me to Chugach was the precise alignment between the company’s Core Behaviors, the military’s Core Values, and my personal morals and principles. That alignment gives purpose and meaning to what I do every day to better the lives of our Shareholders, take care of our people, and provide exceptional service to our customers. ”
Bill Rogers, SVP Administrative Services
“Skillbridge was a lifeline to my new start. It allowed me to see beyond the military in a way I never saw on my own. It also gave me the freedom to explore that new dimension of myself, but with the comfort and support of my military family at the same time. They were basically paying me to find the new me. I was lucky enough to find a new family, with an inspiring mission and a passion for taking care of their people.”
Susan Thompson, Admin Support Operations Director
